Mary with Child and St. Bernard

Mary with Child and St. Bernard
by the Master of the Living Mary
c. 1480
Paint on panel, 30 × 24 cm
Wallraf Richartz Museum, Cologne

A wholesome scene: red-headed, foot-crossing squishy Jesus helps Mary display her centrally located breast to a pious Saint Bernard.

Well done Jesus--here's a carnation!

You've been busy! Love them all - but this one is especially meaningful to me as I was born at St. Bernard's Hospital here in Chicago. I never knew he was so spicy! Cause for instant sainthood, of course.
