A seriously fugly Mary adores her chesty, beady-eyed child surrounded by miniature angels in this landscape painting. Behind the manger rendered with the artist's dubious idea of perspective, Joseph repairs a fence. To the rear of Joseph, an angel announces the birth of Christ to shephards tending their sheep beside a castle.
